2009 Track Nationals - Technical Guide Now Posted |
release by the CCA
The 2009 Canadian Track Cycling Championships are scheduled
to start on Aug. 24 for Masters and U17 and Aug. 27 for Elite and
Junior riders. Athletes planning on competing at the National
Championships are asked to review and familiarize themselves with the
Technical Guide, which is posted here.
Information about the event, including the race schedule and registration can be found here.
Please
also note that per release by the Union Cycliste International (UCI) in
May of 2009, the interpretation of UCI bicycle regulations is being
enhanced as of July 1, 2009. The interpretation deals specifically with
the ratio of length to width of parts of a bicycle, including the tubes
and accessories, and is known as the 3:1 aspect ratio rule (Regulation
1.3.024). The CCA would like to clarify that enforcement of this 3:1
aspect ratio for handlebars will be enforced at UCI calendar races held
in Canada beginning July 1, 2009, including the National Track
Championships. As of Jan. 1, 2010, the rule will be enforced for all
bicycle parts.
For a guide on the 3:1 aspect ratio on bicycles please view the UCI document posted here.
