Racing
Riders will be obliged to compete in their CCA category at the Provincial Cyclo-cross Championships. CCA categories and UCI Regulations for Cyclo-cross place riders in their respective category for the following year, as the international Cyclo-cross calendar comprises two calendar years.
Categories
The categories described in the table below will be recognized at Alberta Cup events. Riders begin competing in the Alberta Cup Cyclo-cross category corresponding to their respective Road or Mountain Bike XC category, whichever is higher.

Equipment
Cyclo-cross bicycles must be used in the Expert, Open and Sport Men's and Open Women's categories. The use of mountain bikes is permitted in the Sport Women and Novice Men categories. Cyclo-cross bicycles only must be used in all Provincial Championship categories other than U17 Men and U17 Women.
Registration
Registration for ABA-sanctioned races is typically done in advance; late fees may be imposed for entries received within 3 days of the event. Race-day registration may be allowed at the discretion of the Technical Delegate & Race Organizer. Please be aware, some events have field limits, which may be reached well in advance of the event. Riders are urged to register early. For event registration information, see Upcoming Events.
Body Numbers
Riders will receive two body numbers with their license. These numbers, coded by ability category, are to be worn at all ABA-sanctioned. Riders moving to a different category will be issued new numbers.
Replacement numbers are available at a cost of $10. Riders forgetting to bring their numbers to an event may purchase numbers from the ABA Technical Delegate ($10) at their next event.
