Team H&R BLOCK-KONA - Looking for Elite Category 1 Riders

Mission

Through the sport of cycling, young athletes will have the opportunity to develop the skills, values and strategies that will lead them throughout their lives and enable them to successfully reach their full potential. Team H&R BLOCK-KONA will help develop young riders by teaching them teamwork in a professionally run team environment while promoting the sport of cycling and our marketing partners. We will help our young riders to hone their skills both on and off the bike, preparing those who want to advance in the sport to become a professional cyclist.

Team H&R BLOCK-KONA has completed the season as a Western Canadian based racing team with elite riders in both BC and Alberta.  We are looking to build on our success by adding a few dedicated category 1 racers to our team for the 2010 season.

The Team has had a strong season of racing and plans are being finalized for 2010.  We have accomplished some serious goals this season and look to build on our momentum by rounding out our elite team by looking to find a few additional riders to join us to help us achieve our team objectives in 2010.

 2009 highlights:

·         BC Provincial Road Champions

·         Alberta Provincial Road Champions

·         Alberta Provincial Crit Champions

·         Alberta Provincial Track Champions

·         Gold and silver medal Team Pursuit – National Track Championships(two of our riders were part of National Team pursuit squads)

·         Silver Medal Madison – National Track Championships

·         3 team riders qualify/attend Canada Summer Games for 3 different provinces; BC, AB and Nova Scotia.

·         2 riders on the National Track Team

·         2 riders attended Pan Am track championships

·         Overall winner of the Tuesday Night series at UBC

·         Tour de Bowness ( Calgary) stage win.

·         Speed Theory ( Calgary) stage and overall GC win.

·         2 medals at AB Provincial Hill Climb Championships

 

As we head into the 2010 season we want to continue to develop riders, with a focus on teamwork in a professional team environment.  

We aim to develop skills on and off the bike to prepare riders who want to advance in the sport or aspire to race at a national level. With the support of our marketing partners, our team offers product and financial support, but more importantly, an environment focused on developing a riders' ability to ride as part of a dedicated team.

We are looking for a select number of category 1 riders that are based in BC or Alberta(or are willing to relocate for the race season) in the core discipline of road racing.  We are looking for key riders that have proven race experience with strong leadership abilities and know how to race as part of an elite team.
