School of Cross - Race Report
The Second Annual School of Cross was held at Royal Gardens Park in Edmonton on Saturday attracting 27 Degree weather and a record number of attendees for cross racing in Edmonton! The course was very fast and technical with a huge descent in the forest, lots of hairy off cambre and a man made section of stairs. Matthew Krahn of Redbike and Pepper Harlton of Juventus took the Elite Men and Women's Titles along with generous cash prizes donated by 'Kans of any Colour' Benjamin Moore paint shop in Edmonton. Paul Ignatiuk took home the Expert title and Oliver Wall the Sport win. The Cross Dressing Cruiser Cross Category offered up some entertaining cross racing with Mountain Bikes and Cruisers being the bike of choice for most of the riders, although not many cross dressers attended. It must have been too early in the day for that. Marcus Boyle took home the Cross Dressing Cruiser Cross win and Greg Nicholson won the award for the coolest bike. In the School Championship Category, Sean Germaine took home the gold medal and the Edmonton School Championship title. All the children who were brave enough to attack the short loop on the cross course were also able to manage the 6cm too high barriers so no DNF's were reported. Kasey Riess took home the Kids cross title.
A big thanks goes out to all our sponsors: Kans of Any Colour, Revolution Cycle, Outdoor Gear Canada, Fast Fence, Wild Earth Bakery and Cafe, and the Edmonton Road and Track Club.
