The 2013 Mountain Bike Calendar has officially been released. We are very excited about the upcoming season and would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our dedicated race organizers.

In addition to the Alberta Cup XC calendar, the Alberta Bicycle Association is also proud to sanction the second annual Blizzard Bike Race. The Blizzard Bike race has received "Club Sanction", meaning all riders must have at minimum an Alberta Bicycle Association General Membership to compete. This year's event will take place on February 23, 2013 and will offer the first ever fat-bike race category. For more information and online registration, click here.

Also returning for the 2013 season is the Kananaskiker III Mountain Bike Stage Race. The Kananaskiker III will follow a similar format as in years past, offering 2 days of racing over multiple mountainous stages. This year's event has moved forward in the calendar to the Canada Day long weekend, with events happening on Sunday June 30th and Monday July 1st. 

Alberta Cup Mountain Bike - Downhill

For the 2013 season, Downhillers will see two new additions to the Alberta Cup calendar.

Grande Prairie and Nitehawk Recreation area will play host to two exciting races this season. First up is the ever-popular Race to the River, moving a couple weeks forward this year into the July 20-21 slot. The organizers at Grande Prairie will also play host to this year's Downhill Provincial Championships, making use of some of Alberta's top course offerings. Both promise to challenge riders of all ages and abilities.

Also new for the Alberta Cup in 2013 is the "Legendary Summer" downhill event, taking place in Fernie, BC. Alongside the Western Open, this event will be split-sanctioned with Cycling BC, offering Alberta Cup points. Both events promise a large turnout and exciting competition.

Western National Marathon Series

2013 will see the return of three of Alberta's most popular mountain bike races. Each event has it's own unique style and promises riders a fun and challenging experience.
